| Frequently Asked Questions How much does KJER.com cost me? We charge an annual subscription fee of EUR 125 for a GOLD membership, EUR 100 for a SILVER membership, and EUR 50 for a BRONZE membership. All three distribution memberships are unique in regards to the promotional options, however, they all share the same awesome feature: You can send through as many releases for digital distribution per year as you like - be it singles, EPs, albums or multi-discs. That is why we call it "flat-rate" distribution. We charge an additional EUR 175 for our RETRO "plug-in" that adds 12 month access to unlimited physical distribution (of CD/vinyls via iMusic.dk) to your GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE membership. - There are no additional or hidden fees. - We charge 15% sales commission of the digital sales. - We payout EUR 7.50 per each physical copy sold (cf. the RETRO "plug-in"). All prices mentioned are including 25% VAT. Please observe that the 25% VAT does not apply to international non-EU clients - and a simple click on the "Show without VAT" link makes the prices without VAT visible to you. How do I sign up with KJER.com? You automatically sign up when you select the preferred distribution membership and you will receive log on information once you have completed the 2-step registration process. Is KJER.com a business-to-business (B2B) company only? No. We serve record labels, artists, producers and DJs, and we are able to assist you whether you run your business as a regular company entity or as a private individual. We just need to know your location (DK, EU or International) and if you have a valid EU VAT number so that we know whether or not to apply 25% VAT according to Danish/European law. All prices on our website are including 25% VAT (default settings), however, for each of our services you can select how you want to see the fees and prices involved (with/without VAT). If you are an international non-EU client, VAT does not apply. I run my business within the EU, and I have a valid EU VAT number. Will I be able to sign up with KJER.com? Yes. Once we have verified the validity of your EU VAT number, your audio shipment order will be processed without the 25% VAT. How do I know if my EU VAT number is valid or not? You can verify the validity of your EU VAT number here: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ I run my business within the EU, but I do not have an EU VAT number. Will I be able to sign up with KJER.com? Yes. We just have to charge 25% VAT according to Danish law. I run my business outside the EU, and consequently I do not have any EU VAT number. Will I be able to sign up with KJER.com? Yes. You just sign up as a "Company" customer and leave the "EU VAT number" field blank. VAT does not apply to your company because you are an international client. I am an artist and I do not have a company. Will I be able to sign up with KJER.com? Yes. You just sign up as a "Private" customer (as opposed to a "Company" customer). If you are located within the EU, VAT applies. If you are located outside the EU, VAT does not apply. I am a DJ and I do not have a company. Will I be able to sign up with KJER.com? Yes. You just sign up as a "Private" customer (as opposed to a "Company" customer). We allocate the relevant number of digital barcodes free of charge, if you need that service. Do I need an ISRC code for every release involved? Yes. Before you sign up, you need to have your ISRC code at hand. You can apply for an ISRC code at your local IFPI agency: http://www.ifpi.org/content/section_resources/isrc_agencies.html How do I send the audio/graphics to KJER.com? As a new client you need our Metadata Start-Up Kit when you upload your music shipment to us. In Step 3 of the registration process you select the Metadata Start-Up Kit. The Start-Up KIT is a ZIP'ed folder that contains three (3) files: 1) an XLS file that we use to configure the label, artist(s), release(s) and track(s). 2) a PDF that illustrates the statement form used for royalty payments. 3) a "Read Me" file that instructs you how to prepare and upload the audio/image shipment to us. You are enabled to upload an unlimited number of files (max 2GB per shipment). How do I register the title of the release, the artist name, the label name and so on? In the Start-Up Kit you will find a Metadata Worksheet (an XLS file), that you have to fill out and enclose in your shipment. We use that information when we configure your release(s). What are the audio file specs? WAV or FLAC format, 44.1 KHz, 16 bit, stereo. In other words, non-compressed full quality audio files. What are the front cover image specs? JPEG format, 1400 x 1400 pixels, 300 dpi. How many weeks will it take until my music content appear on the different digital retail sites? What is the digital-time-to-market? From the moment that KJER.com receive your audio shipment(s), it will take about 6-8 weeks before your music goes live on the Top10 worldwide digital retail sites including iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, Napster, Verizon Wireless etc. - Please expect 2-3 weeks for the prep phase and 4-5 weeks for the digital delivery phase. However, we always try to shorten the time of delivery where ever possible. What is the royalty flow like? How do I get paid? GOLD members: Once every quarter, i.e. 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, 31 December. SILVER members: Two times a year, i.e. 30 June and 31 December. BRONZE members: 1 time a year, i.e. 31 December. KJER.com will forward a sales statement by e-mail showing the total sales and the related royalty distribution details of the specific period, and on the basis of this statement we will make either a PayPal transfer or a SWIFT transfer via our bank, Nordea, to your account. Do I get paid within a month? No. The sales tracking process is a complicated and time consuming process that involves several steps before the sales royalties flow back through the system. You must calculate with about 4-5 months before the first sales statistics land on your table and the including royalties are transferred to your account. However, from that time on you will receive a periodic royalty statement (given that actual sale has taken place). All GOLD/SILVER/BRONZE members must meet a $100 USD sales treshold, i.e. we do not initiate our royalty transfer process until the accumulated sales has exceeded $100 USD. Will there be a login area of some kind where I can check out the sales statistics myself? Yes. You will receive separate logon information to 1) your personal web dashboard (hosted by IODA) where you can check out a variety of useful information at any time including your catalog, your artist profile(s), the sales network, and the accumulated sales, and 2) your personal dashboard at www.kjer.com where you can keep track of your subscription(s). Is there a way to expedite my release? Yes, for a fee we are able to rush ingest any type of release. Please let us know (info@kjer.com) what your needs are. How do I make changes to a release once I have paid for it? Unfortunately there is no easy way to make changes to a release once you have paid for the delivery. Once your release has been processed it will immediately be delivered to the stores and therefore we cannot make changes to the delivered release. If you have made a spelling error, uploaded incorrect files for either music or artwork, the best way to make a change is to takedown the current version and upload a completely new one. How do I takedown a release that has already been paid for? If your release has been live on any of the stores for at least six months, then feel free to let us know (info@kjer.com) and we will process a takedown for you. For releases that have not been live for at least six months there is an early takedown fee of $250. My digital release date has passed, why is my release not live? There could be multiple reasons for why a release may not be live before or after the projected go live date has passed. More often then not it is because there is an open issue that needs to be resolved. If your release is not live but your go live date has passed and/or your album has been listed in processing for more than 48 hours please let us know (info@kjer.com). |
